Big weekend here. Start of the Olympics..and Valentine’s Day. So the fitting hotel to talk about is the Fairmont Chateau, Lake Louise in Alberta Canada. It is a gem in the host country’s list of nice hotels, and once when I was doing a segment on MSNBC about honeymoon spots, one of the anchors who is from Canada recommended it as a great getaway for couples.

It’s no wonder. Check out the gorgeous scenery. The Chateau is located in the heart of Banff National Park. It is about a 9 1/2 hour drive from Vancouver. You can fly into Calgary Intl Airport, but then have to drive another 3 hours or so to get to this remote and quiet location.
Good news: The Chateau just went through a $6 million renovation in 2008. Activities in the summer include guided hiking tours…or hiking on your own around the lake and in the mountains… and also canoeing, fishing, and mountain biking. Winter is cozy with nestling up inside near a fire… or taking part in a variety of snow activites.

Check it out – Have a great holiday weekend. And keep your fingers crossed for injured Olympian Lindsey Vonn..
